Strategic Doing Conference
Date: November 06 - November 08, 2019
Location: University of North Alabama, Florence, Alabama
November 6 @ 8:00 am - November 8 @ 2:00 pm
The 2.5 day session will prepare you to lead your team from the kernel of an idea through the implementation of a transformative strategic initiative. Not a “pay half-hearted attention while you check your email” training, you’ll put what you learn into practice on the spot. To deepen your learning, complete a post-session practicum and become a certified Strategic Doing workshop leader. For more information on this offering click here. Register here.
Strategic Doing enables people in loosely joined, open networks to think and act strategically. Instead of broad visions, they pursue measurable strategic outcomes. Instead of focusing on problems and deficits, they define new opportunities by connecting their assets. Instead of looking for a visionary leader, they recognize that leadership in open networks is a shared responsibility. Teaches people how to form collaborations quickly, move them toward measurable outcomes, and make adjustments along the way. In today’s world, collaboration is essential to meet the complex challenges we face. Strategic Doing enables leaders to design and guide new networks that generate innovative solutions. It is a new strategy discipline that is lean, agile, and fast—just what organizations, communities and regions need to survive and thrive. The Institute offers workshops and practitioner training to private and public sector organizations.
Join with other Strategic Doing practitioners from around the world at our third edition of this gathering. We’ll be hosted again this year by the University of North Alabama – who roll out the red carpet for attendees, showcasing both the area’s historic roots and the vibrant innovation ecosystem emerging from the Shoals area.
The conference agenda will include chances to learn from best-in-class “case studies,” presented by the Strategic Doing practitioners that are using the discipline to bring about change in their communities, regions, organizations, and institutions. And, there will be plenty of time to build your personal network and that “community of practice” we talk about at our trainings. You’ll meet people from large and small communities, people who are new to Strategic Doing and those who have been at it for years. The group will include educators, activists, entrepreneurs, executives, economic developers, and consultants (and that’s probably not an exhaustive list). In short, it’s an opportunity not to be missed.
At last year’s conference, attendees were the very first to see the completely-revised curriculum for our 2.5 day training for new practitioners. We have a new offering to unveil this year as well – but you’ll have to be there to see it in action.
